New acquisitions will aid in the recreation of domestic cinema history

The archive of the Oleksandr Dovzhenko Film Studio has been enriched with several rare finds, which were accidentally discovered in… a dumpster.

This was reported by the press service of the Dovzhenko Centre.

“Over 200 unique photographs, more than 800 negative films, as well as VHS and DVD tapes were found and handed over to the Archive by composer Oleksiy Mudriievskyi and artist Yaroslav Futymskyi — they stumbled upon these items lying in the rain right on the dumpster,” shared the filmmakers about their discoveries.

As noted by the studio staff, it is currently unknown who last possessed these valuable items of cinematic heritage and why they decided to dispose of them, but Ukrainian film history is fortunate that, by a twist of fate, they were found and saved from oblivion.
