The National Philharmonic of Ukraine will host the opening of the festival “Lyatoshynsky Space” in the Column Hall named after Mykola Lysenko.

Borys Lyatoshynsky, one of the most prominent composers of the 20th century, remains a symbol of Ukrainian musical identity. His work is increasingly performed on international stages. This is why the festival will highlight the significance of Ukrainian cultural heritage within the global artistic landscape.

The organizers of “Lyatoshynsky Space” invite listeners to reflect on the concept of memory through music: personal — the composer’s memories of his life and creativity, and collective — the shared memory of the past conveyed through the works of this remarkable artist, reports the Ministry of Culture and Strategic Communications.

On January 3 at 19:00, the festival will kick off with a chamber music concert performed by the “NotaBene Chamber Group,” which includes Maksym Hrynchenko, Andrii Pavlov, Ihor Zavhorodnii, Valentina Buhrak, Artem Poludennii, Tetiana Homon, and Roman Lopatynskyi.

Guests will have the opportunity to listen to a selection of works that Borys Lyatoshynsky himself presented at a jubilee concert on January 3, 1965. These unique compositions reflect significant milestones in the artist's creative journey, including the Violin Sonata and the Ukrainian Quintet, which was created during World War II and conveys a longing for the homeland and deep nostalgia for Kyiv.
