Medieval skates, spinning tops, and toy crossbows can be seen on Klovskyi Descent
The State Toy Museum has opened an exhibition titled “Medieval Lithuanian Toys.”

The exhibits include replicas and reconstructions of artifacts discovered by Lithuanian archaeologists: dolls, a small sword, a bow and crossbow, a spinning top, a cart, bowling pins, and even a children's Jew's harp. Museum visitors can not only view the exhibition but also touch the exhibits.
“From the Stone Age until the advent of industry, people crafted toys from natural materials. Because these could easily break or be lost, no evidence of the oldest toys or pastimes from the Stone Age has survived to this day. While there are examples of original toys and gaming equipment from the earliest civilizations in the world, Lithuanian artifacts tell the story of games from the late Middle Ages onward. Toys that have lain in the ground for centuries help us understand and imagine how interesting and entertaining medieval games were,” – the museum representatives stated.
The original toys found as a result of years of archaeological research are now housed in eleven museums across Lithuania.

The exhibition will run until March 1.
Museum address: Klovskyi Descent, 8.
Opening hours: Tuesday – Saturday, 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM.
