The National Bank of Ukraine is issuing a commemorative coin titled "100 Years Since the Birth of Ihor Shamo," who is the author of the capital's anthem "How Can I Not Love You, My Kyiv?".

This has been reported by the NBU press service.

According to the National Bank, the coin has a denomination of 2 hryvnias and is made of nickel silver.

The obverse features a stylized composition of picturesque landscapes, iconic buildings, and monuments of the city of Kyiv, framed by chestnut leaves — the symbolic emblem of the capital. Below, on a mirrored background, is a musical staff with a notation of the composer's work.

The reverse of the coin displays a stylized portrait of Ihor Shamo, who is contemplating the creation of a new musical masterpiece. Below the portrait is a musical staff symbolizing the composer's musical legacy. To the left of the portrait, the artist's name and surname, along with his years of life (1925–1982), are noted vertically. The reverse composition is completed with images and silhouettes of chestnut leaves, emphasizing the maestro's unbreakable connection to Kyiv.

The NBU also noted that the mintage will be up to 50,000 pieces in souvenir packaging. The coins will be sold in the online store starting February 25, 2025, as they are released by the NBU Banknote and Coin Printing Works.

Recall, at the end of January this year, the National Bank of Ukraine introduced a new commemorative coin "The Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine".
