At the auction, attempts were made to sell fragments of a men's bracelet and belt, as well as a silver buckle

These ornaments were a symbol of the highest status during the time of the Great Migration and belonged to the royal nobility. These culturally significant heritage objects, which are not found in any museum worldwide, will be transferred to the National Museum of History of Ukraine.

This information was reported by the Kyiv police communication department.

The prevention of the sale of archaeological finds, which hold exceptional historical and cultural value, was achieved through collaboration with specialists from the country's leading historical museum. Representatives from the institution tracked the listings of rare artifacts on a collector's website – a fragment of a bracelet and a gilded belt end shaped like a predatory bird's head with a garnet inlay.

According to investigator Oleksandr Sekret from the Shevchenkivskyi District Police Department, the origin of these unique items may be from Northern, Central, and Eastern Europe.

These treasures were being sold for a pittance by a resident of Kirovohrad region. Additionally, it was established that another seller was offering a silver buckle — a rare clothing fastener, adorned with intricate jewelry techniques, which also served as an ornament for its owner. All rare artifacts have been seized.

An art expert examination has been appointed to confirm the authenticity and cultural value of the seized items. Afterward, the artifacts will be transferred to the National Museum of History of Ukraine for storage and study.

The police remind that cultural and historical values cannot be subjects of sale and private collection. Their rightful place is in the Museum Fund of Ukraine.
