Enthusiasts from the group "Search for World War II Aircraft in Ukraine" have delivered intriguing findings to the Oleg Antonov State Aviation Museum located in the Solomianskyi district.
Parts of a German Ju-88A-5 aircraft were discovered in the Sambir region of Lviv Oblast. It is likely that it was shot down by anti-aircraft defenses in June 1941.
The Junkers Ju-88A was a multi-role aircraft of the German Luftwaffe, serving various functions including reconnaissance, fighter, torpedo bomber, and fast bomber. At the onset of the Soviet-German war, it was involved in combat against Norway and Britain, as noted on the museum's Facebook page.
An exhibition titled "The Fate of the World Was Decided in the Ukrainian Sky" is planned to showcase these findings soon at the training hangar of the State University "Kyiv Aviation Institute."
