Residents of Kyiv and visitors to the city will have the opportunity to enjoy the symphonic sound of Ukrainian Christmas carols performed by an American violinist
As the event organizers note, hearing the familiar Christmas melodies performed by a symphonic orchestra will be a remarkable pleasure.
This is mentioned on the Facebook page of the National Philharmonic of Ukraine.
Smooth melodies, rich harmonies, and the wealth of counter-melodies – true treasures of folk music – will resonate in a full and dense orchestral performance, captivating listeners in the whirlpool of traditional New Year tunes.
Composer Bohdan Kryvopust has created unique arrangements of well-known carols, including "Good Evening to You" and "A New Joy Has Come." These works will be performed by the talented violinist Solomiya Ivakhiv from Lviv, who resides in the USA. Solomiya is a professor of violin and viola at the University of Connecticut and the Longy Bard College Conservatory, as well as the artistic director of the Music Series at the Ukrainian Institute of America.
The performance will take place with the accompaniment of the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Ukraine under the baton of Antoniy Kedrovskyi.
In November of this year, an album featuring 12 carols arranged by Bohdan Kryvopust, performed by Solomiya Ivakhiv, was released. It was recorded during hostile attacks and for the first time in music history presented versions of Ukrainian carols for violin and symphonic orchestra.
The concert will take place on December 13 at 19:00 at the National Philharmonic of Ukraine.
