Have you ever wondered about the journey fuel takes before it reaches your car's tank? Let's explore this with one of the market leaders – the national gas station network UPG.
The company explained how their logistics chain operates today, from the manufacturer to the end consumer in Ukraine. It is a multi-step process with a clear action algorithm, heavily influenced by the country of origin of the product. The sole objective remains to maintain a high standard of quality, for which the brand is responsible under its own name.
All petroleum products, as listed on the black and green shelves of UPG, are imported directly from manufacturers at high-tech plants in the USA and Germany. To ensure that the fuel reaches the gas station's storage tanks, the company exclusively utilizes its own logistics: the largest fleet of fuel trucks and rail tankers in the country, as well as terminals for storage and transshipment of petroleum products in neighboring Poland – an undeniable advantage for the company.
The presence of this infrastructure resource at UPG caused a genuine stir at the time. For the gas station network, such a bold move opened up the possibility of uninterrupted fuel supply in Ukraine, independent of external and internal factors. Moreover, having its own logistics resource enables the company to maintain a stable and loyal pricing policy.
Now, let's discuss everything step by step.

The journey of diesel to Ukraine is complex and fascinating; UPG imports it from the United States of America. This experience has become truly unique, if not more – a real breakthrough that the company has achieved in the market. From the very first deliveries, it became clear that this new direction was promising. The American-made products fully meet the quality criteria of the network, and the consistently growing demand among car enthusiasts is the best confirmation of this.
Let’s count together all the logistics stages, and consequently the quality control points, that diesel goes through before reaching the fuel distribution column at the gas station.
The first step in the long journey of fuel begins with the most important aspect – confidence in its high quality, as UPG does not compromise on this. This step occurs in the USA, where a marine inspector from the network sends the first diesel samples to an independent laboratory. If the high standards claimed by the manufacturer are confirmed, the fuel is loaded onto a tanker with a capacity of 100,000 tons. The diesel then travels across the Atlantic Ocean to the port of Rotterdam. From there, it is transferred to smaller tankers that head to the company’s marine terminal in the Polish city of Świnoujście. This is another quality control point at European laboratories. Next, the fuel is transported in small barges to UPG’s river terminal in Szczecin.

Once the waves calm down, the overland route for diesel to Ukraine opens up: first by rail, and then via highways. At the border, part of the fuel from the company’s rail tankers is transferred to fuel trucks, whose task is to deliver the product to Ukraine. Quality control continues here as well. Before the diesel is distributed across the gas station network, it undergoes another examination in the company’s own laboratory, accredited to international standards. Seals on the transport are checked, and then the samples are thoroughly analyzed.
Only after all this is the fuel released for sale.
It should be noted that even during the active phase of the war, UPG is scaling up. This is not only about constant investments in its logistics and the construction of new ultra-modern gas stations – the product range is also expanding. Recently, the company launched the sale of premium diesel – upgDIESEL, which also originates from the USA. This fuel has enhanced properties due to the addition of a cleaning component to its composition. Its main advantage is the gentle cleaning of fuel injectors, ensuring stable and even engine performance. Additionally, modern additives represent a significant step towards the ecological improvement of diesel fuel.

The journey of gasoline in the UPG network is shorter, as it comes directly from Europe.
A-95, upg95, and high-octane upg100 are supplied from oil refineries located in Germany. From here, the product is loaded into rail tankers and sent to Ukraine. It is worth noting that premium fuel is transported in separate, specially purchased containers. Gasolines are put on sale, just like diesel fuel, only after the final confirmation of each quality parameter in UPG's certified laboratory.
